So, AWA is over, my bestie dropped me off at my Dad’s so I can catch a flight home tomorrow and he’s made it safely home tonight. We had a blast. First off skerfrigma’s (my bestie) panel went awesome:
He ran the “Understanding Horror” panel Friday night, and we had a packed room. Apparently everyone was excited to hear about J-horror gaming. I was his adorable cat girl techie :p and he even had a let’s play of Clocktower at the end of the panel.
My costumes went well:
^Cheshire cat dressed as Alice
^I always do one fancy dress at cons, IDK why
^So, I was planning on doing a burlesque Pinkie Pie cosplay. I had wardrobe issues so, I had to make some last minute changes. It worked well, skerfirgma was wearing his Power Rangers shirt so we kind of had this childhood tv show thing going on.
My costume for Saturday was surprisingly more popular than I suspected:
I went as Philip and skerfrigma was Shotaro from Kamen Rider W. (I can’t belive I got him to cosplay… twice). We got sucked in to a tokuatsu photo shoot. The other cosplayers looked fantastic and were super friendly; the shoot itself was a little stressful. (Oh if anyone from the shoot sees this post I took lots more pictures, I have them posted to my tumblr, let me know if you need links).
Speaking of fantastic cosplayers this guy was kind enough to let me get his picture:
Sent this to my hubby, he was so excited…. One of these times he’s going to get to come down with me.
We had fun at the hotel too…. get your mind out of the gutter :p
We tried to make some of those DYI candy kits; fun to play with and to eat. We also watched movies and went to the hotel pool. It sounds corny, but I really enjoyed just hanging out with my bestie. We don’t see each other much so even the simple stuff means the world to me. I amazed he puts up with me the way he does.
Well, that’s it for now… I’ll have more to say one I get home, but I’ve rambled on enough for now.
So, I’m back “home” for the next few days. I came down to Georgia for Anime Weekend Atlanta, and I gave myself enough wiggle room to visit my parents. Today I got to spend the day with my Mom; she gave me a stack of old photos to take back with me. Its a bunch of pics of my little sisters, my cousins, and I, a few old dance pictures, and a NJROTC awards ceremony. I also had these two:
So, I’ve realized two things:
1: I really have been 5’9″ since I was in middle school.
2: When people ask me when I got into cosplay, the answer may be when wasn’t I?
My parents had me in dance classes from ages 6 to 16, so the house was full of costume bits and pieces and they pretty much let me create my own outfits for events like Halloween. (I was Jack Pumpkin Head from one of the Oz books one year and was super disappointed none of the adults knew who I was).
So, um happy early throw back Thursday (I’m not sure if I have internet tomorrow or not). The adorable fairy princesses with me are my little sisters, can you tell which is the good twin and which is the evil twin?
So, I have just a unique enough name that I can never find keys chains or any of that other personalized stuff with my name on it. (Though apparently in certain places you can “share a coke with” me…. Just not around here). Last night I drew a black card in Cards Against Humanity with my name on it:
My game group had a field day with it. I couldn’t stop laughing long enough to read the cards well.
We went shopping yesterday, I can’t walk into a Hallmark with out finding awesome Wizard of Oz stuff. (I’ve loved it almost as long as I’ve loved Star Wars) I was hoping to get a silver pair too, so I could be book accurate, but they didn’t have them in my size.
These are for the Color Run this weekend.
One of the guys in my game group bought Adventure Time Munchkin, I had so much fun. We also had some new people come visit and try out playing some games, defiantly a good night.
My hubby found Char’s zaku at the Mall of America. Its missing the command horn though.
